Did they have hockey goalie masks in the 1940s? I thought that originated in the Ken Dryden era.
The fact that I know something about hockey history betrays my Canadian origins.

Sure he could have, but if it worked the same way it did when they actually made those movies then they would've used a stuntman. So how about the the stuntman who doubled for the aforementioned James Arness in The Thing from Another World; Tom Steele? Or the only other stuntman of the era that any of us knows; Yakima Canutt?
