I think that approach has been very rigorously rejected by audiences. Look, just do it like the Jungle Book remake and let them resemble the animals, not the actors.

I actually made a post a while wondering when they would get to this one. My best guess is it's gonna be something like the cat from "The Smurfs", they'll use a real cat but use CGI to give it facial expressions (I think that's the best route to go with I think)

They just can’t stop, can they? Leading the way in bankrupt ideas.

His concert documentary Summer of Soul was fantastic; the infamous Will Smith slap unfortunately overshadowed his Oscar win. It's a no brainer he'll lean heavily on the music.
I said it before and I'll say it again. A CGI cat standing upright and playing a trumpet or strumming a cello will venture into the uncanny valley if they're not careful.

As someone who is aggressively lukewarm on the original, I feel like some things could be improved in here and I am in more favour of remaking movies that weren't great to begin with instead of ones that are almost unanimously admired, but I also feel like there are other Disney films with way more potential to produce good remakes like Atlantis or even Treasure Planet. But I guess those did poorly and Disney wants to avoid the possibility of them failing again, despite the cult followings those particular films had gained over time.
The photorealistic CG style on the animals is almost certainly the approach they'll go for.

Well, they may start redoing their science fiction movies like Atlantis: The Lost Empire or Treasure Planet. Or if they really wanted to impress me, do a live action Black Cauldron movie.

I love The Black Cauldron, but it lost a shit ton of money for them, so I don't exactly see them being eager to remake it, lol.

Unless they just skip ahead to remaking their more recent stuff like Moana or Tangled or god help us, Frozen in live action.

I'd say they could try their hand at a remake of The Black Hole, but given Disney's track record with space operas I wouldn't have high hopes.
