A movie that just happened to come out for Leonardo DiCaprio while he was still riding high on the success of "Titanic". Seems like a well-mounted production with a good cast and written/directed by the writer of "Braveheart". For those of you who have seen it, how has it held up after 25 years? Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: The Man in the Iron Mask (1998) - 3 out of 4 stars "Handsome retelling of the durable Alexandre Dumas tale of a man unjustly imprisoned and encased in an iron mask--because his very existence threatens the reigning king of France, the young, selfish Louis XIV. The fate of both are soon in the hands of the aging but still passionate Musketeers. It would be hard to miss with that cast; the film is quite enjoyable, but it does go on too long."

Saw it in theaters, but was rather disappointed. I don’t think I ever forgave the film’s plot on D’Artagnan.

I adore this film....a real M0ViE movie.....a chromium-plated 1O out of 1O for me.
Has all elements that stir.....love of son, love of friends, love of honour, love of justice........and there's a love story in there. Sumptious to look at....And all portrayed excellently by all involved. Top stuff and eminently rewatchable.
I wonder if anyone will ever put a modern slant on it......replacing swords with machine guns......don't think it would work......but could be fun.

I always liked it, fun film and well made. I realize it was based on the old Dumas story, but Hollywood has a hard time making classic film like this anymore. This small period of time saw a couple of good Dumas adaptions, including the superb Count of Monte Christo with Caviezel and Pierce.
