It's a shame it is not better given the cast and a rare starring role for Lesley-Anne Down who appeared directionless much of the time. Her hairstyle was suitable for the desert but didn't flatter her. With a hair change she would have been the mirror image of Eleanor Parker in Valley of the Kings.

Her hairstyle was suitable for the desert but didn't flatter her. With a hair change she would have been the mirror image of Eleanor Parker in Valley of the Kings. I thought her hair was fine. One of things I appreciated about the film is the scenes showing some of the ancient Egyptian monuments, including the pyramids and the Sphinx. I've seen those monuments countless times in illustrations, photographs, and other films, but never from the angles in this film. I wish I could say that I also appreciated the gesture of having the actors speaking what I guess was supposed to be ancient Egyptian, but those scenes seemed contrived. Frank Langella gave an interview where he said that an initial version of the film had been 4 1/2 hours long; 2 1/2 hours got cut from that. He also mentioned that there were government sensors on the set through the whole production. That no doubt didn't help the directing.
