It was OK but I lost interest and skimmed. I liked The Redbreast better.

Just can't get into his work. Love the genre, maybe it's the foreign setting.

started reading it yesterday. any fans? opinions? I have read "The Leopard", which follows "The Snowman" in the Harry Hole series (I had to look it up). I don't remember it very well, only that I didn't like it very much.

Have you read any more of the Harry Hole series? I have a friend who raves about them.

started reading it yesterday. any fans? opinions? Did you choose it because there is a movie adaptation coming up in a few months? I sometimes do that. I wonder if they will keep the Norwegian setting for the movie, or if they will adapt it to England or the US. Michael Fassbender is playing Harry Hole.

Michael Fassbender is playing Harry Hole. yes, sort of. im still only half way through it. its pretty decent. but too many twists.

I was hoping it would be like Silence of the Lambs or Red Dragon. I love these police procedurals. After a terrific beginning, where a cheating woman and her lover see a face in a window during intercourse, The Snowman slips into mediocrity with its accounts of politics within the Norwegian police force and the tortured life of the alcoholic Harry Hole. It seemed like Jo Nesbo is someone who reads a lot of essays about rare diseases and the mating habits of seals and decided to incorporate the knowledge gained into his crime fiction. Nothing wrong with that. But it is all about how well these bits of knowledge are framed. Nesbo does not do a good job of it. It all comes across as trying too hard to be dark. The themes of the dark side of male sexuality and how female promiscuity is perceived were interesting. It could have been a really good thriller if Nesbo was not concerned with way too many sub-plots and plot developments that were outrageous and far fetched. But I liked it enough to read another book by Nesbo.
(6/10)

How do you feel about recently Fassbender playing Hole. i think he is a good choice. though RICHARD BRAKE would have been awesome:
BRAKE has that thin, haunted dried up look.
