Tipping?

How much do you typically, if at all, tip when it comes to food services?
When I eat at a restaurant I’ll tip anywhere from 15-20% depending on how good the service was.
When I’m getting food delivered it kinda depends. I feel like most of the time they aren’t offering the same service as a waiter. So a lot of time I won’t tip 15-20%. Let’s just say I order one pizza for myself I’ll probably top 3.50. All the guy did was take one pizza from the store to my place. If I’m ordering a lot of food for a group of people I’ll probably up the amount to 15% or more.
Nowadays they even wants tips for counter service. I’ll typically tip 1-2 dollars depending on how much I order/how nice and accommodating the person taking my order was.

18% for good service, 20% for really good. Never really had an especially bad server except for this bitch at ihop who wanted to torture me for daring to have a free entre coupon. I'll throw a buck to coffee baristas. Never have food delivered. And that's all she wrote.

20% if well served; though 15% or so for something under $10 bucks.

Cough up the buck, ya cheap bastard, I paid for your goddamn breakfast. Since you bought breakfast, I'll put in. But normally I would never do this.

If I'm picking up an order, I don't leave a tip. If I'm eating out at a restaurant (which is VERY rare because I REALLY don't like eating out), I will leave a tip. I always thought 10% of the bill was a feasible tip. It wasn't until later that I found out that the norm is 15% for good service, and 20% for exceptional service. At one of the bars/restaurants that I used to frequent after the hockey games on Friday nights, a buddy of mine was a manager there. He probably thought I was a cheapskate by only tipping 10%! As well, when I get my hair cut, I do give the hairdresser a tip. The one time, I gave her $5 - only because if I did it through the debit/credit machine, I had heard of stories that the employer will take a percentage of the tip. For some reason....I don't like that. She did let me know that her employer does NOT do that. Joker's Wilde

I tip 20%, but I do it in cash. I've heard that some restaurants take a portion of what you have tipped on your card. I'm not going to go through the whole hassle of asking about the restaurant policy. I just write "cash" on the tip line of the bill, and leave cash for the server to keep.

i am so annoyed by the US tipping requirements. Its insane. Both how much and for all the different services. Just pay your people living wages.

25%
It used to be 20%, but that meant doubling the bill and moving the decimal point back a place. And if I had dined well mistakes tended to happen whereas it doesn't matter how many sheets I am in the wind, I can always divide by four.
I always tip in cash so that the staff get it, not the restaurant owner.

15% minimum, but the growing confusion over how much to tip and when are cracks in the system. They're hairline fractures that have been there all along and growing. Tipping can be lucrative if you're in the right place and the right section but it's a cruel model.

Some places in Canada tried it....didn't work out. paying living wages or what, what did they try? In a lot of countries in europe we also tip, but its TRULLY voluntary and you can tip 10% and it doesnt always mean service was bad. service was bad when u tip nothing. Usually u just round up and if the service was amazing u tip like 15 % IF u can afford it, but its not like the servers AUTOMATICALLY expect u will tip at least 18% or else… and tiping 15-20% when u come pick something up is just ridiculous on so many levels. i hate that some od the ipads dont even give an option under 15% unless u want to visibly go lower and hit “custom”. and then switch to dollars from percentage etc. the whole thing of “but i work for tips/dont go out if you cant afford 120% on your meal”. pisses me off. ps: i used to waitress and bartended. and still think expecting atuomatic 15% or more on tips is bullshit.
