Florida Project level talent of kid acting 8/10. I've been thinking of watching it but keep putting it off. I know the subject is important and it's something we all need to be made aware of, but seeing children being trafficked/harmed is something that tears me apart and I don't know if I am up to seeing it.

I know the subject is important and it's something we all need to be made aware of, but seeing children being trafficked/harmed is something that tears me apart and I don't know if I am up to seeing it. So, that was one of the things I liked about it the most. They never show any harm being done to the kids. They talk about it, sure. But you dont see it. You see the adult agent reacting to it like you see tears in his eyes when he talks about it or watches a video of it but you dont see OR HEAR the video or the acts itself. I was concerned about that too, but the filmmakers were quite adamant about not showing anything like that and I appreciate that. So while the subject is very heavy and dark the film does a very good job not to make you suicidal. They did MUCH better job at it than “Women Talking” that had me walk out for this very reason. Too much violence shown on women/ you adults and talked about in kids. Like excplicit talking about the heynpus things. Awful. This movie doesnt even go that far to describe the acts. Really really good decision.

I'm thinking about seeing it, I'm amazed our theater actually got it in with there being NO advertisement for it in our area.

Using my 9,000th post to say that SOUND OF FREEDOM is a great movie, very well acted, with an important message to tell. It's a believable story, since it's based on fact. It's very moving. I had tears in my eyes in some scenes (thankfully tears of joy). I highly recommend it.
10/10

It is an intense and powerful motion picture that needs to be seen. Ironically, the best criticism given at the movie has been from some of the people who have actually responded favorably to it, while the worst criticism has come from people who refuse to see it and have dismissed it as right-wing, Christian propaganda that promotes QAnon talking points - Thing is, if they actually saw the picture, they would see it is very apolitical, and if they did their research they would see that the film was written and filmed before QAnon even became a thing. Christianity, and religion in general, is hardly a talking point in the movie either.

Sorry, but neither I and it would appear nobody else present is going to take your bait and respond in the kind of way you want us to for your amusement. Better luck next time.

Saw it tonight with 26 other people, which is the biggest audience I've been in since probably The Grinch came out, and it's been out long enough usually the audience is dwindling down to nil, and I was honestly surprised to see the bunch of teens/college students ahead of me were NOT there to see Indiana Jones, instead we were all sitting together in the balcony.
If you get the chance to see this movie, DO. It's as simple as that, literally since they came up with a pay it forward system to ensure people on a budget can get free tickets.

Apparently at my theater this movie is GAINING popularity, generally once they go from 4-6 showings a day, to 3, it goes to 2, to 1, and then it's gone. I went the other night because I thought it was going to be pulled at the end of the week, shown twice a day, once in the afternoon and once at night. Checked the theater schedule, it's now getting THREE showings a day. So it looks like it's going to be around for a while.

Side note, WTF is going on in California? Don't feel like watching a video, but I presume it's an that California trafficking bill that was temporarily blocked by Democrats. The reasons they were hesitant to vote for it (not that I think you really want to know) was a) vague language that some feared could lead to victims being prosecuted along with their abusers, and b) the bill didn't seem to differentiate between violent and nonviolent crimes, leading to fears of long prison sentences for nonviolent crimes, which costs the state money that taxpayers have to pay for, which leads to people like you whining about taxes.

Why *shouldn't* people get long prison sentences for trafficking children for sex slavery? We've already established the getaway driver will also go down for murder like the rest of a gang that kills people during an armed robbery, it should be no different here, you traffic children you KNOW they're going to be victims of continuous violent crimes. No 8 year old ever says 'mommy mommy I wanna be gang banged every night!'

Seeking to provoke conversation from fallacy to devalue the opinions of others and take away from the intended purpose of the thread author is a troll tactic most people are well aware of by now, and your repetition of such play has become well understood since IMDb V.2 was launched some years ago. With that said, you could even share an article where the film's star Jim Caviezel says cashews are the seeds of the Devil due to their shape, and it wouldn't have any effect on how people see the Sound of Freedom picture. The movie is still doing pretty impressive numbers especially given that it hasn't even been released internationally, while other releases are underperforming, like the latest Indiana Jones which may be Disney's biggest financial loss this year it looks like.

Like I said, I was genuinely surprised the teens/college students ahead of me in line were going to see Sound of Freedom, I had assumed, wrong thankfully, that they were there to see Dial of Destiny. And it halfway kills me to say that, it halfway kills me there's a new Indiana Jones movie showing right at our theater and I'm not seeing it, but I refuse to support crap. There are so many things they COULD have done with Indiana Jones, if they wanted to do this de-age CGI stuff, why didn't they have him and Count Dracula fighting over the same ancient holy relic? Temple of Doom was originally supposed to be a haunted castle, who wouldn't have loved to see that? They could've done that, hell, Dracula's castle could still have big boulders trying to kill Indy, they could've had the place booby trapped. They could've done something actually FUN to send it off.
