Watched it last night. I loved it. First-time viewing in 2023. I'm kind of blown away because I was on the fence about what to expect, but it's essentially a perfect movie. I dreamed about it. I'm already thinking about my next viewing.
I'm sure it's been discussed to death by now but I was really impressed.

Technical marvel that holds up objectively speaking... alas, its soap opera story never did a thing for me.
Everyone should watch it at least once.

Scarlett O’Hara. She’s just the worst. One of my new favourite ever characters, and for exactly that reason. She really is the worst. Melanie (Olivia De Havilland) is the lone likable character for me (though I don't really have anything against Mammy) but none of them come close to Scarlet. |

I found Vivien Leigh just too bland for the role. Hedy LaMarr would have been more head-turningly beautiful, or Ida Lupino would be more intense, but Leigh just comes off as a simpering brat.
And why is British actor Leslie Howard playing a Southern gentleman?
The backdrop of a major historical event against a silly soap opera romance wasn't matched until the release of the even dopier romance in Titanic.
