Later tonight I've got this relatively short low budget filum to watch... Sounds like an Unfriended knock off... I've read some good things about it, we'll see.

I found it a little but overhyped, but solid. It's quick and makes more of its premise than other similar movies, and it was pretty clever and opportunistic to make this thing taking place over Zoom when everybody was always on Zoom. It wasn't especially new, but it was the first to do that very specific thing, ans it came out at exactly the right time.

I liked it, not as much as I liked Unfriended, but still an enjoyable suspenseful movie.

Just to add... I did enjoy it... Which is better, Host or Unfriended? I'm 50/50. Think I'll do a rewatch of both at a later date after a bit of time.

I don't remember Unfriended fondly, but then again I hardly remember it at all. Perhaps it's deserving of a rewatch at some point. The director of Host, Rob Savage, made a different kind of found-footage-ish movie as follow up called Dashcam. I haven't seen that one, but it sounds similar to another found-footage-ish movie from a few years ago called Spree, which I did see. I don't think that one was very well received, but I thought it was kind of interesting and fairly well executed with a decent central performance and a semi-novel approach to found footage, which was kind of the next logical step. Anyway, it's kind of interesting that both of his found footage movies have these other similar counterpoint movies that would make for double feature material. While his latest movie, Boogeyman, sounds like a million other movies.

I did like "Spree" and "Unfriended" tho.

I didn't hear much about it, but it sounded a bit like Spree, which I I kinda liked, despite its main character also being pretty unsavory and pitiful lead character.
