B cinescore. That’s not indicative of nice word of mouth. For anyone who doesn't know - Cinemascore is not a measure of quality, it's an industry metric predicting whether a movie might make money at the theater or home video.
They gave Nolan's "Tenet" a B, and the last Ninja Turtles Movie
Didn’t say it was - but it does indicate WOM.

It's a good movie. Too bad about the box office numbers.

Saw it last night. Not a good movie. I think there was a decent comedy adventure in there but Marvel clearly fucked it up in post. The editing was disastrous. Add in a boring barely functioning plot and the MCU’s worst villain (out of a sea of bad villains) and this one deserved to fail. Marvel needs to learn their lesson. And fast!

I thought it was fun, but it definitely felt rushed. One has to wonder if they wanted to do reshoots or add a few more scenes, but due to the strikes, they were stuck with what they had-- hence the short runtime. It doesn't help that two of the leads were from shows most people didn't watch. Not exactly household names to pair up with a character who isn't one of the more popular ones to begin with. Completely agree about the villain. What is it with Kree MCU villains? Is Kree space slang for 'generic?' One thing is clear after the performance of Quantumania and now this, Marvel has a lot of work to do to get back into the general audiences' good graces.

My theory is that after Ragnorock they thought making Captain Marvel 2 into a quirky sci-fi comedy too was the way to go. Then when the tide turned after Thor 4 and the test screenings disliked the goofier elements (the musical sequence was originally longer and reportedly panned in screenings) they panicked and chopped the original cut to hell. You are probably correct about the strikes impacting it as well

the MCU’s worst villain (out of a sea of bad villains) I dunno if she is the absolute worst but she's definitely pretty poor and very underdeveloped. A pity.

As of today, it has only earned $116,491,257 at the box office (domestic and international), and is going to be dethroned at number one this weekend by The Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Sorry formersamhmd, but this isn't going to be a box office rival to Barbie.

You got to admit Stephen King had a point here.
That and Disney shot itself in the foot with D+ always picking up movies so quickly, relatively speaking. Folks who have adjusted to Post-Pandemic life will want to watch something on their already-paid-for Streaming Service if they know it will be out soon as opposed to going to the theater. Barbie and Oppenheimer weren't going to be out on any major streaming service anytime soon for free viewings.

Ah, lowering expectations aren't we? And if it doesn't even meet that, what do you think is the issue?

Ah, lowering expectations aren't we? And if it doesn't even meet that, what do you think is the issue? I never expected it to make another billion, as the only MCU movie after Endgame to do that was because of the gutless fanservice artificial booster and people admitting on rewatch it's not that good without nostalgia.
Well, one big problem is the post-pandemic landscape and how theaters are still deeply affected by it:
# of movies to surpass $1 billion in 2023: 2 # of movies to surpass $1 billion in 2019: 9
We haven't recovered, and plenty of people are just more used to staying in and not going out. After all, Mission Impossible bombed too this year.
Another problem is Disney shooting itself in the foot with D+, because they release things so soon on it people are more motivated to wait for streaming to watch the movie for free from home rather than go and spend more money on a ticket and concessions. Barbie and Oppenheimer did not get quick streaming release on streaming services where they'd be free.
The Strike certainly didn't help this, as it affected Marketing and Promotions for the film. Related to that, Disney didn't make it clear that you didn't need to see the D+ shows to understand this movie. People assumed they had to see WandaVision and Ms Marvel and Secret Invasion to understand this movie. They didn't, as I saw when I actually bothered to go see the movie.
Thankfully those who did go see it are annoyed enough at the usual Boogeyman Rhetoric they're actually challenging the usual Grifter Scum who go on their usual rants about "Forced Diversity" and "SJW Agendas" by pointing out the movie had none of that stuff and it was just an adventure story that happened to star three women. It's not enough to put an end to the Scum, but it's a start.

Didn't see, probably wont. Did that dumbass Rambo retract her stupid defenses of Wanda after the events of Multiverse of Madness or no?

Also, Vision wasn't a man, he was a glorified vibrator. She did, she was talking about the sacrifices Wanda made for Humanity as a whole, not just what she did in that town. And how they'd never understand or appreciate any of that.
Vision was a sentient being

It was clear throughout the conversation that Rambo was talking specifically about Wanda giving up her imaginary friends to end the town's suffering. Let's be serious here. And I take it that no, Rambo never has a "welp, guess I shouldn't have enabled her sociopathy" moment in The Marvels.

It honestly doesn't excuse her holding a town hostage by making them act out a tv fantasy of hers.
