A-
This one's tougher to impress my 21st century bias - the film comes across more as a project than a horror escape for me lately. I first stumbled upon it as a kid, late night tv, glued to it thinking it was from the 1940's - B&W, farmhouse setting, etc... Its 1968 placement though seems to amplify its sociological undertones, which isn't scary, more fascinating as all. Still... an excellent work of art, copied & parodied by infinite followers. I think it could still scare me without the radio & subsequent tv reports essentially playing as soundtrack throughout its entirety... the unknown of what & why might've aged better as horror.

6.5/10 - I’ll round it up to a 7/10 for the poll.

7.5/10
To me, the most memorable character was Johnny.
Johnny: Hey, come on, Barb. Church was this morning. I mean, prayin's for church.
Barbara: I haven't seen you in church lately.
Johnny: Well, there's not much sense in my going to church. Do you remember one time when we were small, we were out here? It was from right over there, I jumped out at you from behind the tree, and Grandpa got all excited, and he shook his fist at me and said, "Boy, you'll be damned to Hell!" Remember that? Right over there.
