We think of him now as an action icon, but remember when he was a teen actor and starred in dramas and Indie movies? He has some movies I haven't even heard of. Has anyone ever seen this movie? or this movie? Anybody remember these movies? Remember these?

Actually looking through his movies from the past 10 years it isn't that he only stars in John Wick movies and The Matrix Resurrections, it is that his other movies are very under the radar and/or have been critically panned. Aside from his small role in The Neon Demon.
Replicas Siberia Destination Wedding To the Bone The Bad Batch The Whole Truth Exposed Knock Knock
He also had a very rough time before in between 2008 and 2014, with 47 Ronin really being the only movie during that period that got a wide theatrical release.

A Walk in the Clouds and Sweet November yes. I don't know the rest.
He's found a niche though. Personally I've always liked his acting.
I'd add River's Edge and My Own Private Idaho to them as well.
I'd be curious to look at The Last Time I Committed Suicide.
I figured he found his stride with science-fiction and even more notably action. Man of Tai Chi is the film that, to me, said martial arts is an emerging interest and vocation for Reeves. My impression is that movie is his brain-child, and he's done a lot to invest in his own martial arts knowledge since probably The Matrix.
edit: Of those extra more recent movies I only know Knock Knock and Replicas. Knock Knock I think was an early Ana De Armas vehicle. Haven't seen it. Replicas seemed more typical of his tastes; it made me think of Chain Reaction or Johnny Pneumonic.

He is supporting in The Last Time I Committed Suicide. He is quite good in it imo. The main character is played by Thomas Jane, who had an interesting career in the 1990s. Knock Knock is awful and the first time I ever remember seeing Ana de Armis in anything. I would have never expected she would become an Oscar nominated actress.

Yeah, he used to star in movies from acclaimed directors. Gus Van Sant, Francis Ford Coppola, Stephen Frears, Richard Linklater, James L. Brooks, Sam Raimi, Bernardo Bertolucci, Ron Howard and Kenneth Branagh. He actually played in 2 Gus Van Sant movies. The second is considered one of Van Sant's worst movies - Even Cowgirls Get the Blues.

Remember when he played a serial killer? I do. Specifically I remember him evil-dancing to Rob Zombie in slow motion. This movie also made for one of the funnier episodes of We Hate Movies. "Damn it, Brian, did you sign me up for The Watcher?!"

I actually went to see the movie at the cinema. He was apparently drawn to villain roles around that time, because I think it was the same year that The Gift came out. A far better movie.

I’ve seen The Night Before. How is it? I was thinking about watching it. I gave it a 6/10, which is a subpar rating for me. It’s not terrible, but there’s tons of better teen comedies from the 80s.

Usually a movie where there is a lot I like about it, but too much I don't like about it at the same time. Or a technically good movie that just doesn't connect with me. Cabaret would be an example of the latter.

Not so much for The Watcher, which Keanu claims he was tricked into making because a friend forged his signature on the contract and then he couldn't back out. That inspired the hilarious "Damn it, Brian!" running gag on the podcast I mentioned. He's great in The Gift. I think he's better at playing scumbags in general. Which is ironic because of his "nicest guy ever" persona. Something that hasn't been mentioned, re: him playing an interesting variety of roles: he turned down Speed 2 to do a play of Hamlet. *Keanu Reeves as Hamlet, in theater*. I would donate a kidney to see that.

It is one of his best performances.

I agree with that and Sandra Bullock maybe would have remembered to play the same characters as in the first movie. The main issue with the movie is nothing freaking happens for the majority of the movie. Bullock is annoying and Patrick is like watching paint dry. Willem Dafoe is the best thing about the movie and even he isn't really given anything interesting to work with.

Jason Patric is a good example of what happens when you have two generations of nepotism and good loooks but zero talent or charisma. It seems like Sandra was trying to carry the movie for both of them and her shtick goes way overboard (no pun intended). As for Dafoe having interesting things to work with, tell that to his jar of leeches. You know what Speed 1 needed? A guy erotically covering himself with bugs. But yeah, you can't really recreate the tension of a bus speeding throiugh LA traffic with a boat in the middle of the ocean. The scene where it crashes onshore is the only time it really feels like the first movie.

I think he is quite good in Narc, though that movie is largely carried by one of Ray Liotta's best performances.

Largely.I know we had that argument yesterday, but that reminds me of a good example - Jason Miller as Father Karras.
