The album at no.40 has the highest rating "The chart algorithm assigns a score to each album based on many factors, including weighted ratings and overall popularity. The albums are ranked by score to compile the actual charts. Those scores and the specifics of the chart algorithm are not made public (to prevent manipulation of the system) and are always subject to change as we continue to tweak and improve the chart algorithm." Just another list. Who cares really? OK Computer, for example has 94,003 ratings and 1,699 reviews so at least it takes into account a lot of listener feedback. I mainly use the site to monitor my own ratings so I can look them up by year or genre etc. I've got 1318 combined (albums, singles, etc.) |

Disgusting. Until people learn to start expanding their horizons, lists like these will never mean anything at all or be anything close to accurate.
I do use the site though for my personal ratings.

OK Computer, for example has 94,003 ratings and 1,699 reviews so at least it takes into account a lot of listener feedback. I mainly use the site to monitor my own ratings so I can look them up by year or genre etc. I've got 1318 combined (albums, singles, etc.) Same here. Have been there since spring of 2016, but did not start to use it more frequently until autumn that same year. A nice way to look up and keep track of ratings, year, artists and albums one have listened to, or might give a later visit to. As of now, I reached 1500 albums the other day, but only 21 of those I feel is worthy a 10/10 (and a few of them is the same album rated twice, but through different versions or copies), where as only 8 have been given the lowest rating. The scale of rates is quite similar to the one I have on Letterboxd, where sadly 4/10, 5/10 and 6/10s dominates, and while I kind of wished far more would be heading upwards between 7/10 and 10/10. But I am probably a far more strict rater when it comes to music albums, since they take longer time for me to take in, compared to just watching a movie. |
