Why do I think so?
Every single they came out with, decent.
When you get to the albums, there's not much there.
Or another question, who was the best singles act of the 80's?
the police and blondie don't count they are from the 70's.

Great singles. Great albums. One of the greatest bands of the 1980's period.

You have been rather obsessed with R.E.M. lately. Or at least non-plussed and bewildered.
But if you were in any way serious about there being "not much there" in an R.E.M. album, I would suggest you take another good listen to Lifes Rich Pageant. Very substantive and in my opinion, the best album of the 1980s.

It's not bad, I still prefer Murmur and one that takes a lot of criticism, Out of Time (90s album, though) Still can't figure out why they used "Lifes" with no apostrophe.
