I bought an 8-ounce tub of whipped butter today at a Kroger-owned store. It was $4.99 - - that's for a half-pound tub. Oddly - and annoyingly - enough, a full pound of stick butter at that store is the same price: $4.99.

I guess you're paying for the extra processing. I like the flavored butters i.e. truffle, garlic & herb etc. but they are too expensive, I should not be eating butter so I guess the high price will keep me from buying more. Whipped butter is nice to use as a spread.

Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter is very delicately salted and is superb. But at £2.70 ($3/30) for 250gms it is an expensive treat. You open the packet and butter two slices of toast in the morning and the pain is tangible when you see how much of a dent just buttering two bits of bread has made in your small brick of butter and already you are thinking about when you will need to spend another £2.70.
