The funny thing is, Jaws is actually rated PG. I don't really think it's violent enough to be rated R, I'm guessing it would be PG-13 if it came out now. Oh, that’s funny. I always thought it was R. I guess I just wasn’t allowed to see horror movies as a kid, even PG ones…lol. (I did manage to sneak into Halloween a couple of years later though.) jcush is correct, Jaws was actually rated PG (but on the poster it came with the warning of "may be too intense for younger children"). It almost got the R rating so Spielberg had to tone down the gore a bit, especially with the Kintner boy attack scene.
