The only one that immediately comes to mind is Alien Ant Farm covering "Smooth Criminal"

In other words, people that suck at music?
3 dog night.
And I guess, by my logic... Technically the Byrds also.

This guy never did release a song that did better than this cover. It was actually his first ever song on the radio. It got as far as #6 in 2000.
God bless you and him always!!!

The first thing I thought of was Peter, Paul and Mary covering Blowin in the Wind, but maybe Puff the Magic Dragon was more famous.

One off the top of my head was: Come On Eileen - covered by the band Save Ferris. I would go into it is rare that for a one-hit wonder's one-hit, it is a cover....of someone else's one-hit. But, I got flayed alive for even suggesting that Dexy's Midnight Runners was a one-hit wonder. They were over here (North America). However, they had several hits in their home land. Joker's Wilde

It's debatable what Elvis' most famous song is, but Houndog is up there and it's a cover of a song by Big Mama Thornton.

This song was done for a tribute album to the late and legendary Keith Whitley in 1994 and what I have here is a copy of Alison Krauss singing the song with him. God bless you and Keith's family and Alison always!!! Holly (a fan of her since 1994) P.S. Alison's solo copy of the song got as far as #3 in 1995.
