The Holdovers – Alexander Payne teams up with Paul Giamatti almost twenty years after their big success Sideways. This time Giamatti plays a stern, unpopular and solitary teacher in a boarding school in the 1970s who is stuck with the task of being in charge of the handful of students who are not going home for the Christmas holidays. Anyone who has seen a movie in their lives, any movie, can probably tell where this is going. So no points for originality, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a nice bittersweet dramedy. In theatres now, and worth watching.

I was disapointed when the other kids left - but it really was wonderful. Hoping to catch it again before the holidays are over.

But the movie was anazing regardless. 10/10 never felt better to give to a movie. Paul is such an artist. They all are. Best movie by Payne in my book.

Read Tom Perrota's books Year's ago. "Election" and "The Wishbones". I thought I read an "Election" sequel and book were in the works. I thought maybe this movie had something to do with "The Leftovers". But nope.
Sounds good tho.

I thought it picked up when they did and the focus turned to just Giamatti and Sessa - Liked their chemistry, the latter I'm disappointed didn't make it into the nominees this year. I think this is the greatest acting debut I've seen in years. Watching this newcomer hold his own against a Paul Giamatti on the top of his game was just something else. I hope to see him in other stuff.
