30TH ANNIVERSARY THE SIMPSONS (1994) “Homer the Vigilante” Sam Neill plays a cat burglar. The finale takes off ITS A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD, with music and caricatures of Phil Silvers (Bart lures him to the deep water), Buddy Hacket, and Milton Berle. I remember recognizing the parody when I saw its premiere on January 6 1994. Amazon Prime

THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN (1984) “Crossing the River” & “The Bibighar Gardens” Granada adaptation of Paul Scott’s Raj Quartet novels. The first two episodes adapt the first novel with the same name, about an incident in India 1942 involving Hari Kumar (Art Malik), Daphne Manners (Susan Wooldridge), and Ronald Merrick (Tim Piggot Smith). I had previously watched the full series back in 2019. Amazon Prime

Emily the Criminal (2022) Not too convincing that the Aubrey Plaza character can do all the crazy and bold stuff in the movie. She did have a badass attitude though. Stupide guy who brought her into the criminal operation. Quite entertaining film nevertheless. Asteroid City (2023) Very good looking film like most Wes Anderson film, like a cartoon with people in it. Like most Wes Anderson film, another quirky story. The movie is filled with prominent actors. Some interesting individual scene, but as whole, not for me. Chris Rock: Selective Outrage (2023) Chris Rock stand up talked about the Will Smith Oscar incidence. Lots of funny stuff, but with lots of vulgarity like the usual Chris Rock. Just voiced a bit too much gripe on the incidence to be perfect. Odd Man Out (1947) Another excellent Carol Reed movie. An activists, played by James Mason, injured while robbing a bank and left behind on his own by his gang. You get different perspectives of reaction from people he ran into as cops is hunting him down. The Paradine Case (1947) Gregory Peck played a lawyer who wanted to help a woman accused of murdering her husband. THis is one of the lower tierd Hitchcock movie. It can get frustrated by the lawyers attitude as evidence becoming more obvious. The court scenes were pretty intense.
