I think it's only a distraction if the character isn't supposed to be super attractive.
Chloe Moretz - Carrie Rachel Leigh Cook - She's All That Andrew Garfield - Amazing Spider-Man

Chloe Moretz - Carrie Rachel Leigh Cook - She's All That Andrew Garfield - Amazing Spider-Man If that’s the case then it is definitely Ally Sheedy in The Breakfast Club who looked way better before her makeover. Olivia Newton John in Grease as well

The undercover cop in Art School Confidential? I dunno, he always seemed like an obvious phoney character without much payoff. I guess that's the point, I'm not hating, it just didn't feel as natural as the rest of that awesome film.

Jennifer Connelly in Career Opportunities - Every time she’s on the screen, I don’t even hear what the characters are saying. Totally distracts me from the movie.

Olivia Newton John in Grease as well It's not that Oliva's character wasn't supposed to be attractive to begin with, the makeover at the end was her going from being a good girl that Danny didn't want into being a slut, which is what every guy wants. That great message to send to its target audience of young girls.

I kinda felt like this about Daphne Zuniga in Spaceballs, especially since she was so much more attractive than Carrie Fisher.

I find it hard (no pun intended) to concentrate fully, despite their acting chops, on the plot and stuff when Maggie Q, Geraldine Hakewill, Priyanka Chopra and Amanda Seyfried.....and in days gone bye, Kari Wuhrer, Mary Steenburgen, Andie McDowell, Jenny Agutter, Jayne Mansfield, Jennifer Connelly and Diana Rigg......were onscreen.
Not conscious decisions....just my fickle weakness at their allure.

Now that there are repeats of The Avengers and Sue:Thomas F.B.Eye on the telly.....I am finding myself also distracted by Linda Thorson (as well as the aforementioned Diana Rigg)again.... and Enuka Okuma.

With all due respect to the witty screenwriting of prime John Hughes and effortless charisma of Frank Whaley: Jennifer Connelly, that white t shirt, and those skin tight pants were the only things keeping me awake in that movie.

A lot of the women in Eric Rohmer films, two examples Haydee Politoff in The Collector (1967) Beatrice Romand in Claire's Knee (1970)
