Now that the Superbowl is behind us, it's time to revel in the birth of a new day! As pitchers and catchers for the Dodgers have already reported on 2/9 (and yesterday for the Friars), technically spring training is already a few days old.

Steven Matz plans to make all his starts this year.
Unlike Mats Sundin, I'd welcome a trade to Toronto around my birthday/during the June draft.

These are my favorite kinds of spring training headlines, and I'm seeing it everywhere this morning. Like, what is he supposed to say and why is it newsworthy? "Last year, I just wanted to get high and play Fortnite, but this year...I'm all in!"

The end of football season is a sad time but the thought of Spring Training, especially on this snowy day in Jersey, brings a smile to my face. Even for this long suffering Mets fan!

Just snagged tickets to Opening Day! Honestly, I'm pretty excited for this Mets season because it represents the enactment of an actual plan. I don't need or want them to sign Blake Snell and Cody Bellinger, let's give everyone a fair chance to stake their claim. Let Brett Baty get 500 ABs. Give Vientos a proper shot to solidify DH. Let's see what Drew Gilbert and Luisangel Acuna can do. The only way they can possibly compete with the Braves and Dodgers is by building a strong, young core and then adding to it via free agency. The past few years, they've kind of been doing the opposite and if it works, it's not sustainable from season to season (as we saw). Even if they end up having a .500 season at best, it's the first step towards the actual construction of a winning team and I'm here for it. Oh, and re-sign Alonso, which I'm fairly confident they will.

I was looking at the Mets roster. When did Yankees gave Severino to the Mets?

I was looking at the Mets roster. When did Yankees gave Severino to the Mets? It was one of the early free agent signings, before Ohtani, signing on December 1. I love it, low risk-high reward signing. If it works, amazing. If it doesn't, he's gone at the end of the year.

2023 Jays lineup unofficially in over their heads... I'll check back this thread when they're 15 back in the AL East June 20th.
Huzzah!

I want these young kids to get enough time in the bigs to make an an honest assessment. If these young kids all play and they can still be playing remotely meaningful baseball in September, I'll be happy! And yes, they HAVE to resign Alonso which I also think they will.

btw, is this the year teams stop fretting about trying to near 100 wins in exchange for a playoff hot streak? Are the Dodgers going to maybe not try their hardest of their season in May & June?

Still young just under 30 years old. I am going to miss him as a Yankees. Great pick up for the Mets.

Drafted my yahoo fantasy team this week, so that's a thing. #11 overall went Riley, & #14 Yamamoto my earliest picks... a few Dodgers, Braves, & couple blue chippers rookie value picks. I've learned via baseball & hockey fantasy, a roster will likely face 40-60% turnover because of daily grind. There are pitchers who come out of nowhere in June to offer a playoff run.
