Over the last few weeks, I’ve been watching westerns and few of them were the Budd Boetticher & Randolph Scott features. Comanche Station, Ride Lonesome & Decision at Sundown. They weren’t anything spectacular, but still were really good and compelling westerns. I could see myself re-watching them. It’s hard to put my finger on it, because they look simple at heart, rather lean in length, but the writing seems to have underlining shades, performances are well rounded and Boetticher’s eye for details stand out. Any fans of the pairs’ westerns, or anything to say on the ones I’ve yet to watch. I did try watching ‘The Big T’ on Tubi, but the screen goes green whenever i try to watch it.

RL is great, CS very good. DaS is nothing special.
The RS/BB/Burt Kennedy films are one of the great H'wood collaborations, matched in westerns only by Ford-Wayne & Stewart-Mann.
Four are classics: 7 Men From Now Tall T Ride Lonesome Comanche Station
DaS, Buchanan Rides Alone, & Westbound are routine.
Greek subtitles, but they can be turned off.
At 28:00 is one of my all time favorite dialogue exchanges.

I went crazy the other day when I saw that Criterion had a 50% off sale and bought a number of movies , including their Boetticher/Randolph Scott box set, which contains
The Tall T Decision at Sundown Buchanan Rides Alone Ride Lonesome Comanche Station

Though i do lean towards the other 3 collaborations. Looks like, I might fancy ‘Decision at Sundown’ a little more than most. ‘7 Men From Now’ is a definite track down. I didn’t realise Burt Kennedy was a collaborator too.

One thing that got me curious. The hanging tree in ‘Ride Lonesome’… was that the same tree again in ‘Comanche Station’? This time the open ground where it stood was flooded by water.
