Don’t know where the data comes from or how reliable it is.
Top 10 Michael Jordan Tiger Woods Cristiano Ronaldo Arnold Palmer LeBron James Jack Nicklaus Lionel Mesi David Beckham Roger Federer Floyd Mayweather
The NFL calls itself the richest sports league in the world (which it may very well be), but the highest ranking American Football player in the list is Tom Brady at #23
No hockey player in the Top 50.
Only one woman on the list, Serena Williams at #40

#1 Michael Jordan earned US$3.75 billion in his career. Everyone up to and including Neymar at #16 has earned more than US$ 1 billion.

How are they calculating this? Is it just based on salary from their given sport, or are we including all of the merchandising, licensing, and endorsements? It kinda seems to me like it's the latter. I don't know if Tiger Woods makes the list at 3rd place unless the nike contract and everything else outside of golf is included.
And the NFL probably is the richest sport, but the teams have to play like 2 to 3 times the number of players as they do in other leagues.

I am pretty sure it includes sponsorship deals and everything else in addition to salaries and prize money (in the case of golfers, boxers and tennis players).

It absolutely includes their endorsements. Jordan was smart. He was usually not the highest paid player in the league. The last 2 years he stuck it to Reinsddorf and took a ton of cash. Before that, he took less so his team could be better, even though he was clearly the best player in the world. Keep winning, keep endorsements. And his player salary, even if it were #1 in the league, would pale in comparison to his deals with Nike, Gatorade, Haynes, etc. The contract he signed with Nike getting points on the back end is what made him a billionaire.

Brady was taking haircuts under the cap for many years. NFL rosters are large. It's probably why NFL former players go right into media, to work for the machine & get their real money.

No Ricky Williams or Josh Gordon? Get it? Highest paid athletes? I thought it was probably a joke, but not knowing who Ricky Williams and Josh Gordon are, I didn't want to say anything.
