ESPN: Antelope Valley in NAIA tournament despite school's shutdown
Kind of a weird story here as Antelope Valley's men's and women's basketball teams will both be playing in the NAIA tournament even though the school has shut down and cancelled all sports programs. The school seems to have been in shambles for a while but still had an active campus and sports teams. Now they lost their accreditation, moved to just online classes, and ceased all their sports programs, but the season continues for their basketball programs. The coaches decided to try to raise funds on gofundme for the travel of these teams and let them finish out their season... I'm surprised they were so quickly successful, and a little surprised that the rules allow you to play for a school that essentially doesn't exist anymore.
