What’s the matter with you? I thought Mothers were supposed to be sweet and kind a-a-and patient. I know loan sharks that are more forgiving than you. Your husband ain’t dead, lady. He’s hiding.

Also starring Kevin Spacey, Judy Davis, Christine Baranski, and Glynis Johns. Saw the trailers in ‘94. Saw most of the film on Easter Saturday 1995. My introduction to Spacey and Davis. Amazon Prime

FALL OF EAGLES (1974) “Death Waltz” 13 part BBC TV Serial focusing on the slow destruction of the three European Royal Dynasties. Narrated by Michael Hordern, the first Episode focuses on the Hapsburgs of Austria in the 1850s, with Archduke Franz Joseph (Miles Anderson) and his problematic marriage with the unsuited Sissi (Diana Keen), not helped by his mother Archduchess Sophie (Pamela Brown). I first came aware of this series in the summer of 2006 when I saw the DVD Set at my local Borders store. Looking it up, I immediately ordered the Serial getting it later that week. YouTube
60TH ANNIVERSARY BECKET (1964) Film adaptation of Jean Anouilh’s play of the conflict between Henry II (Peter O Toole) and Thomas Becket (Richard Burton). Known of this film for years (like Mike Clark’s USA TODAY Laserdisc Review in the mid 1990s), but the only scene I saw was a clip from a CD ROM in February 1996. I finally got to see the film on VHS during Christmas 2005. Amazon Prime
100TH ANNIVERSARY THE SAGA OF GOSTA BERLING (1924) Swedish period drama directed by Mauritz Stiller starring Greta Garbo and Lars Hanson. This was the film that interested Louis B Mayer into getting Garbo to Hollywood (with help from Stiller). YouTube

El Conde (2023) A strange movie taking some historical figures and turned them into vampires, linking from the French Revolution to the modern day Chile. The story seemed disjointed at times. Some scenes gotten a bit overly gruesome even in black and white. The flying scenes were awesome looking though. The Parallax View (1974) A reporter (Warren Beatty) looked into an assassination. Very slow going in the beginning, which is typical of the Alan J. Pakula movies I watched. The reporter was unconvincely a James Bond type of person. If you can get past that point, the second half did get suspenseful, especially when the dialogue got minimal.
