Okay, it's that time of year again! Let's name our MLB players whose ADP is far too high!
Mason Miller Oakland A's RP
ADP: 270
This is a guy who isn't even drafted in a lot of leagues! Yes, I know, the A's are not expected to be a great team. Doesn't matter, because even on crap teams someone has to be a closer and it's this guy. He is in line for saves. You basically get a free pick that might get 30 saves.
Also, he has the 5 fastest pitches in statcast history, all this preseason, at over 104+ MPH! This is insane.
Ryan Noda Oakland A's 1b
ADP: 400
What a deal! He is especially valuable in OBP leagues with an OBP of .364! The only concern is strikeouts, though he doesn't chase much so can potentially improve that. It's a gamble worth taking. Especially as he is projected to hit first or second in the lineup.
Zack Gelof Oakland A's 2b (You may see a pattern here with Oakland A's players)
ADP: 130
In 69 games last year, he had 14 homers and 14 stolen bases! Sure, his strikeout rate is a bit high at 27%....oh well. That's not why you're drafting him. You're drafting him because if he repeats those numbers, it's a 30/30 season which is hard to come by.
JP Sears Oakland A's SP
ADP: 268
Yes, yes, he plays for the A's. However, last year he was the only A's starting pitcher that got volume with 172+ innings pitched and a respectable 162 Ks and 1.26 WHIP. Yes, he will get some extra losses because of his team....but the guy is actually better than you think and is basically a free pick.
Daulton Varsho Toronto Blue Jays OF
ADP: 209
Okay, so he lost catcher eligibility. So what? This offseason he has worked on his swing and in spring training he has 6 SBs and a .417 BA! Obviously not sustainable, but in a year where OF is surprisingly thin, he is a great pick. More importantly, his K/BB is 4/9 this spring training compared to his career appearances of 42/14 in years past spring training.
JP Crawford Seattle Mariners SS
ADP: 234
What a beast! This guy is a monster at OBP at .380 and is a run machine! Yeah, so he doesn't hit homers. Who cares?
Graham Ashcraft Cincinatti Reds SP
ADP: 284
How the heck is this guy available in 93% of leagues? Okay, I get that his home games are in The Great American Ball Park which has a proclivity for homers, but the dude is solid. 15 QS last season? Sign me up!
Jared Triolo Pittsburgh Pirates 1b, 2b, 3b
ADP: 565
What a legend! This guy was slated to be a utility player, but his spring training is making it likely that he will be an everyday player! Batting .370 in spring training with a defensive prowess! This guy is basically a free pick and can win you your league depending on your settings.
Griffin Canning Anaheim Angels SP
ADP: 291
This dude pitches like Merril Kelly (who was on my last year's list)! 127 Innings Pitched and 139 K's! Put this man on your team although know his team may rack up some losses.
Matt Strahm Philadelphia Phillies SP, RP
ADP: 499
Last year he had 87.2 innings pitched with 108 K's. Not only that, but he had a great 3.29 ERA and a phenomenal 1.02 WHIP. Why is this guy not more drafted?
