When I blind bought Freaks & Geeks dvd season, I'd no idea he was even in it - what a f'n awesome surprise he's the lead's own father!
I think best of all - he had to be aware of his fan adoration of all his work & characters. He'd never headlined like John Candy or Martin Short, yet he was right there through these decades with beloved supporting roles.

Sorry to hear this. But yeah I had absolutely no idea the same guy played the lawyer in Used Cars, the western union man in Back to the future, and the MC in 1941 for the USO dance. Wow!

SCTV was just so stacked with talent that Joe Flaherty was often overlooked, but he was a funny, funny guy.
