Following some spoilers that I've read about the movie, that's a new, possible timeline:
2023 - Max Rockatansky/Mad Max is born.
2027 - Furiosa is born, during "The Fall" (33 years before FR).
2037 - Furiosa is kidnapped by Doctor Dementus. She's 10, as reported by official reviews. In FR, Valkyrie claimed that she stopped counting the days of Furiosa's absence after 7,000 (= 19 years).
2052 - The main events of 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga'. Furiosa is 25. She also meets Max (29 years old) for the very first time.
2060 - The events of 'Mad Max: Fury Road'. Furiosa is 33. Max is 37.
I love having that gap of 8 years inbetween the movies. So you get a plausible transition between Anya and Charlize, as well as further development of the character. The 15 years timespan is specifically related to Furiosa's story (2037-2052).

If you got questions, ask. The original trilogy doesn't connect?

If you got questions, ask. The original trilogy doesn't connect? I have had this question. Is Max from Fury Road supposed to be the same universe as Max from the OT? Or is Fury Road a sort of reboot?

The Mad Max franchise isn’t overly concerned about continuity. I believe it’s been stated that the films are meant to be interpreted as legends that have been passed down over the years, rather than a true cohesive timeline.

That makes sense, especially considering the ending of Beyond Thunderdome.

The Mad Max saga originally began in the mid 1980s. This is where the timeline really goes to shit. The article points out the various retcons and continuity errors in the story previous to this, particularly with the companion material to the films. By the time we get to Fury Road, we just have to look at the entire franchise as a series of legends passed down, with no real timeline to adhere to. I thought Fury Road was a nonsensical film, but once I saw Furiosa I decided the timeline never made sense in the first place, and just rolled with it.

THE MAD MAX TRILOGY is the original Mad Max universe. Its continuity is 100% perfect. THE FURY ROAD SAGA is the second Mad Max universe. Its continuity is 100% perfect. There are two universes. They don't match. At all.

I liked to think of them as all connected depsite actors changing or reappearing but I guess that cinches it.
