Wanted to see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. I would have liked to see it in IMAX but it left like the day before so just went to my local one. Hasn't changed much lol. Once again no one was there to check you had tickets. The amount of movies I could have walked in for free over the years... The cinemas now seem to have security cameras though which is nice. Can't imagine there's anyone watching if they can't even afford an usher but hopefully it deters fappers and other weirdos. Only one other group in this showing which was nice but one of them made a noise every now and then what sounded like jangling keys. Weird.
Quality kinda sucks compared to the OLED at home. I knew it wouldn't be as good but I forgot how poor digital projection could be. Also had to sit up quite close in one of the closer rows. Just used to my batcave I guess.
Anyways good movie and was good to go back but won't make a habit of it. Maybe just IMAX every now and then for must see stuff.

I am not sure what a 'fapper' is....but it sounds like they should be ejected. I haven't been to the cinema in years, also. 'They' used to say that a video/(now dvd) is only a souvenir of the cinema experience....but with the advent of the huge tellys we have nowadays...not so true. I've boringly said/typed this often....but I totally prefer watching a movie in the Blade Swamp (My Batcave ), on my own, horizontal with ultra light-weight headphones, vape and a glass of Merlot.....blessedly free of moronic, inconsiderate, oxygen thieves noisily chowing down and poncing about with mobile phones. My lady and I don't live together but she is of the same view...we only watch about 2 or 3 films a year together in comfort as our tastes are quite diverse....so I am not distracted by her. (Sorry Darling). Security cameras now, Roberto? I LiKE iT !! I am quite tempted to see the new Alien:Romulus flick at the local bijou with my youngest daughter ...if it's quite empty.....but I wouldn't be surprised if I change my mind.

I missed Apes in IMAX as well. It's only $5 at a theater about 20 minutes from me Monday-Thursday so I should be in there every week except I'm lazy. I'm gonna make sure to see Furiosa before they make room for Bad Boys 4 (meh).

I haven’t been to the cinema since 2018. No plans to go again anytime soon either. More than enough content at home to fulfil my movie-watching needs. I actually like my local cinema but always end up missing parts of the film due to the need for toilet breaks.

Even though I prefer to watch movies at home the vast majority of the time, the whole cinema experience never gets old and boring.

I don’t go to the movies near as much as I want or should, but when I go I’m always reminded how much I prefer going to see a movie in theaters rather than watch on a TV at home.
Though, to be fair, I have a local theater that just upgraded everything. The seats, sound, and projector are all top-notch. Some theaters can be pretty bad quality. I’m fortunate to have a souped-up Cinemark ten minutes from me.

That's good to hear. At good as my 1080p LED widescreen television is, going to the theaters is still a worthwhile experience, in my opinion. I do hate when others are on their mobile phones because it's really distracting in a dark room. That happened to me when I went to see Civil War. Regardless, watching the tall screen and hearing the surround sound system is very absorbing.

I haven't gone since 2019. Though I wouldn't be against going again in the future.
I want movies to feel like an event again that will make me feel compelled to go.
I just need an original movie, or something like Lord of the Rings, to come around to really impress me with its trailer, or from word of mouth, like in the old days.

Yes I think it was 2019 for me too. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, if I remember correctly. It was one of the last ones anyway.
There's definitely been a lack of big event movies like LOTR. Apes I'd say is one, due to how great the trilogy was. Avatar 2 was definitely one, but I was unwell at the time so gave it a pass unfortunately. I'll make sure to catch any rerelease prior to 3. Gladiator 2 would definitely be one. Maybe Alien: Romulus as well.
Matrix 4 was arguably one, 5cream was a big deal too, despite its low budget and small scale.
But still it's nothing compared to the 2000s and first half of the 2010s. It felt like there was always something huge hyped movie coming out soon.

Yes, that is my biggest worry for my next visit when it's more packed, unlike this experience which was practically empty since the movie had been out a few weeks or so.
The phone nonsense was getting pretty bad in the late 2010s, so I can only imagine it's gotten worse due to how addicted people are to their social media or whatever it is they feel the need to constantly check.
It's definitely worth taking the time and money to make a little home theater, especially with how affordable large screens and speakers are now a days. I made one last year which probably explains my lack of not wanting to go as much, since I basically have a little private IMAX right here.
