The Acolyte has been certified fresh at an amazing 93% 🍅

I don't having streaming so I've had to buy the dvd's of any of the Star Wars spinoffs that I want to see. I love The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett but my Andor dvd's are unwatchable. Is this series worth buying the dvd"s when they come out?

I have not seen the show, and i will never watch it as i am never going to get Disney+. So i have no idea and i will never know if the show is good, bad or mediocre.

Not sure I have the heart to watch this. It looks really bland (like most of the SW live action TV shows do).

$22M per episode? Yeah, gotta be money laundering.

Usually I like hearing people hate review crap movies and TV shows and point out why everything about them is wrong and stupid, but I gotta admit I'm lost on this one.

Now some of what I've heard about the Acolyte kind of gives me Glass Onion vibes, bad movie, but you can at least understand what the plot is when it's broken down, broken though it is.



Now you can argue CD just doesn't know what he's talking about, doesn't know what's good, etc., people certainly have, but I'm sorry, yeah, so much of this is so stupid and could've been prevented with better writing so it made sense, biggest thing, epitome of lazy and stupid.

But I feel sorry for the people actually trying to review the episodes of The Acolyte because nothing sounds like it's connected to anything else in any way, what the hell was the plan here exactly?





Literally NOTHING here makes any sense, and it doesn't matter if you try to argue it's just a movie, it's fantasy, blah blah blah, nope, people liked the original Star Wars because it made sense, you could figure out the storyline, you knew what the plot was, stuff was connected, stuff rarely just happened for no damn reason (though I still want to know why there was an octopus in the trash compactor, yes for those of us who have seen it we KNOW it's a reference to Disney's Swiss Family Robinson, but what's it doing in a trash masher?). Can anybody explain what the point of any of this stuff they're putting in the TV series' is?

And for years we've heard the arguments oh people just don't like anything new. Well, there's a reason for that. THIS was new too, and nobody likes it, for a reason.



Literally the ONLY thing new movies have to go on for why people should watch them is because they're NEW!, older movies have groundbreaking effects, practical effects, pre-CGI, older movies have real stunts, WHY are the 60s/70s car movies such classics? Because those were REAL cars racing and jumping and crashing, it wasn't phonied up on a computer screen because it's quicker and cheaper, it was real stunt drivers in real cars taking real risks, and it showed, and it paid off. Older movies had better actors, with better chemistry, who portrayed far more likeable characters, that we could figure out what the hell their purpose was, the scripts were about 1000x better. Even being sci-fi or fantasy wasn't a free pass to violate all laws of physics, the idea that a group of people have powers they can incorporate into their physical abilities didn't make it a free for all you could levitate for 10 years without effort or rest because just why not?

I’ve watched all 3 episodes and it’s got some ok ideas but it just isn’t executing them well. Structurally the story is a mess. There’s only 2 characters that are likeable and fleshed out enough to care about. The main conflict is playing both sides of the fence and as a result I don’t really care what happens either way. On top of all that the dialog and acting is spotty at best. I do really enjoy the fight scenes when they show up.

Episode 1 - 7/10
Episode 2 - 7/10
Episode 3 - 3/10

So we’re trending downward and it’s easier to remember the negatives. Still hoping it turns it around and does something that makes the show worth watching.

Playing devils advocate a bit but....the conception of the twins in the show doesn't clearly ruin the legacy of anakin skywalker. They never tell us exactly how they came to be. For all we know theyre just test tube babies.

Have we established in this fictional universe with magic and aliens that fire in space is unachievable?
