So as we all know, the Sopranos starts with Tony finding ducks in his pool and he has an existential crisis when the ducklings learn to fly and the family leaves.
Well, last week, I saw 2 ducks in my pool swimming around. I don't mind, we've had ducks back there before, along with other various critters. But earlier today, I found 5 duck eggs in the backyard, right next to the pool. From what I understand, that's only the beginning as the ducks can continue to lay eggs for a bit longer before nesting on top of them.
Normally I'd just leave it alone but it's going to be a heatwave starting this week, and I don't want to keep my dog inside for the next month. Yeah, I can put some kind of makeshift fence around the area to keep her away but she's crafty.
Anyone dealt with this before? It is just matter of the ducklings will hatch and then they'll leave after a bit? I imagine once they hatch, I need to turn the pool filter off, otherwise the babies can get sucked into the skimmer and drown.

 You're going to need a ramp or ladder of some sort because the little ducklings can't hop in and out of the pool. |

For clarity; Balut is a Phillipino street food which is basically just boiled duck eggs, but they're fertilized, so there's a little duck embryo in there that you eat whole. I don't know that I'd enjoy it, but it sounds like your dog might. |

I don't know that I'd enjoy it, but it sounds like your dog might. I actually didn't know that! You can count on one hand how many times I eat meat during the year, but even when I was a regular carnivore, duck was my least favorite. I rarely ate it, if ever. That said, when I've had it done right, it was incredible. And yeah, my dog will eat anything fowl-related. No frills, she'd just eat the entire shell, contents and all, and be enormously content with herself. |

This is the sacrifice I'm willing to make for my friends. One year we did a legit crawfish boil back there, and my neighbors were.....displeased. |
