Wow... all my life I thought this would be some stodgy B&W aged John Wayne war movie past its due date. It's actually in technicolor & I'd argue Wayne hadn't looked this svelte since his younger days.
As it is, most of it is just solider banter & shop talk... fly out for a mission, with casualties... to talk about... rinse, repeat... until biggest naval battle to conclude.
Quite bold to use so much real live stock footage of battle btw... I'm not certain that'd be greenlit these days - each moment is arguably the death of soldiers American & Japanese alike - albeit from afar, yet real all the same. I see that the footage looks livelier because it's taken from the then active Korean War... that's even more wild. Imagine a film about Kosovo or something & using Ukrainian War footage today.
