Gee, could this have ANY bearing on how so many women get endometriosis and other intestinal and gynecological issues? Endometriosis, a disease that often isn't diagnosed, or even TESTED for, for 5, 10 or 20 years, and all that time doctors patronize women with either 'it's JUST your period', or 'It's all in your head, there's nothing wrong with you' or maybe they take the 'you're fat, just lose weight and your crippling pain will magically go away' route. They seriously spend 15 years in medical school to push that crap, but oh if a man gets a vasectomy, he needs to take pain pills for a week and stay on the couch and don't overexert himself, but a woman nearly dies from a period, an ovarian cyst, childbirth, or anything in between, you don't need pills, you're imagining the pain, you can get up and back to work in 2 hours.
Condescending indeed. And just like some people insist 'it's better to die from radiation than cancer' or 'it's better to die from a vaccine than the disease it's supposed to protect you from', I'm sure some people will still be stupid enough to insist 'oh a lifetime of feminine cancers and other diseases is WORTH being able to wear thongs and swim for that extra week each month'.
So we can file this under yet another lie women were sold on that as women they needed and was good for them and would improve their lives and was practically a rite of passage for reaching puberty, along with douches, hormone contraceptives, feminine deodorant spray, scented feminine wipes, etc.
Every woman who never trusted tampons and refused to use them, VALIDATED.
