Old Freefolk leak (January 2024): Episode 5: Meleys head is paraded through the streets. There were leaked videos of Meleys' head being carted through the streets. Once again, Clare Kilner was seen on set directing this scene. This confirms it occurs in episode 5.
Larys gives Aegon an inspirational speech about how he has survived dragon fire. This was leaked by the cast and crew as a part of the dialogue was used for the announced that filming had wrapped. " You have already written yourself into legend, you survived dragonfire."
According to leakers, Dyanna, the servant Aegon raped, makes a return. We don't know the context under which she makes an appearance. New, detailed leak (July 10th):

People keep telling Rhaenyra that she's too important to be deployed as a dragon rider, but doesn't the same apply to Aemond after his promotion? Shouldn't Vhagar be parked now? Why does everyone act like they expect Aemond to rule and to also be in 3 places at once with Vhagar?

I found this episode somewhat dull, but episode 6 seems very promising. Will there be 8 or 10 episodes this season?

I think more importantly Im just not that interested in what Daemon is up to at the moment. He feels like he's just spinning wheels in Harrenhall. Combining that with Rhaenyra and Allicent both feeling a lack of agency and its just hard to get all that interested in a lot of the behind the scenes conversations. Allicents is the more interesting angle tho now that she truly sees Aemond in this light. I like the slow build showing the peasants in Kings Landing growing discontent. But there doesn't feel like much else to grab onto this episode.

The secret meeting at the Sept was the worst thing ever. This is so written for idiots it's painful. I had a laugh when the stupid lizard fell on top of the castle's whisky storage room and it all went up. What a waste

I think a quieter, more introspective episode was to be expected after Rook's Rest, but they certainly didn't do themselves a lot of favors giving so much screentime to three people who weren't even there. The show is kinda burdened by having Rhae, Ali, and Daemon as its mains when their plots are kinda stuck at this point in the story. Meanwhile, Aemond basically just usurped the throne, this should be his episode, and he has like... 5 lines of dialogue? Still, this is preferable to racing through the story like seasons 7 and 8 of GoT. I agree that Ali is finally getting a bit more interesting, and I'm actually okay with Daemond's "like, zoinks!" Paranormal Activity subplot since it's so different to what we're used to getting (on the other hand, whenever we cut to Rhae jerking off at Dragonstone it's phone-checking time). The last few eps have also accomplished what I would have thought impossible in making Criston one of the more compelling characters to watch.

It's not a matter of people liking him though. It's that since he's the Regent now he's strategically too valuable to deploy in battle. If they lose him and Vhagar right after losing Aegon and Sunfyre, people who aren't committed to the Greens on principle alone are gonna start to jump ship because the other side 1) has more dragons and 2) if Aegon dies, will have better Targaryen claimants to the throne.

It's that since he's the Regent now he's strategically too valuable to deploy in battle. How so? They can name a new regent any time. As long as Aegon is alive, things are stable. He'd be better off with an heir, though, but not using Vhagar would be the more effective way of losing the war. Besides, the risk of Aemond being harmed on the beast is fairly low. Of all the dragon riders he is the least at risk. So we'll see Aemond in action. And if all failed, there would still be Daeron but I wouldn't bet on the Greens without Granny Lizard. I wonder if Maelor the Missing will turn up as Alicent's child with Cole, even if only for 5mn. That would be the spare heir Aegon needs and a funny turn of events for a while.

It seems stupid to me that the writers would have Daemon, one of if not the, most interesting character(s) on the show, sit there for 3 episodes wandering around chasing ghosts. They need better writers.

I certainly think your title to this thread is correct. S2 is not very good, in my opinion. I said this in S1 and I'll say it again -why, when they have money for dragon CGI etc. couldn't they spend a little on buying wigs that actually look like hair and not like they've come from my grandmother's basket of wool for making a scarf? It's especially evident on the black characters.

It's especially evident on the black characters. Most of the budget is spent on dragon food. They're not telling you but I'm pretty sure some of the writing team got eaten too so the rest of the story had to be written by the keepers. It won't come to light before some time, I'm afraid I expect a book: Cash Cannot Feed a Dragon.

He's not gonna sit on his hands while the war plays out and everyone there probably knows that (even in the case of Aegon, in the books he was part of the battle of Rook's Rest from the start, and he was only left out of it in the show because everyone thinks he's a boob, not to protect the monarchy) As for Maelor, I doubt that since Alicent has been chugging abortion tea. It was so dumb not to introduce Maelor at the start of the season and ruin Blood and Cheese.

That would be the spare heir Aegon needs and a funny turn of events for a while. It would be quite the twist. I was under the impression that Alicent and Cole's relationship began when they were both older, but who knows? I have a suspicion that Jace, Rhaenyra's oldest son, is Criston Cole's. She never consumed the moon tea, and the director deliberately never clarified whether she did. I believe this will happen: In battle with Jace, Criston Cole will kill him, and then Rhaenyra will reveal to Criston that he has killed his own son. I shared this theory last year on Reddit, and the moderators reprimanded me, saying I'm not allowed to post spoilers. I've never read this anywhere; it's purely my speculation.
