A space opera film that was obviously trying to cash in on both Star Wars and the video game rise. Also, alongside Tron, featured some early use of CGI in a movie.
It’s cheesy, but fun and charming. The score really helps it as well. The early CGI effects don't hold up at all, but they are interesting to watch in a "Time capsule" sort of way. I might have actually found the stuff in the trailer park more fun than the space stuff, especially later with a clone of the main character trying to take the place of him while he is off in space. Catherine Mary Stewart is also an underrated hottie.
There are talks of a sequel Tron Legacy style. I would be totally down
