Mr. Freeze is a sympathetic villain, even in Batman and Robin, yes I know everybody hates that movie, 'bad' movie, I love it, and part of it's because they capture that very well, Mr. Freeze does what he does to save his wife, he loves his wife, you never see that with the other villains.
I still want to know what he did to Poison Ivy when they were cellmates, once he learned she was the one to pull Nora's plug.

Well the sympathetic tragic villain element didn’t come until 1992. Before that (dating to the Silver Age), Freeze was just a crook.
