The movie starts on a relatively high note with a call back to Logan (2017) and a slow-motion brutal and ridiculous fight scene between Deadpool and the Multiverse police (or whatever they are), set to Bye, Bye, Bye by NSYNC. This is the opening credits and it is a fun scene. It then does that annoying thing some movies do where it the stops and goes back a few days to tell how Deadpool got in this situation. This is the worst parts of the movie. This is Deadpool at his worst, with nothing to do but ad lib cringe-inducing inappropriate jokes for the next 15 minutes straight while being recruited by the head of the Multiverse Timeline police (Time Variance Authority) named Mr. Paradox. The best thing about all of this is Matthew McFayden as Mr. Paradox, who plays it with a menacing and darkly humorous indifference. I want to avoid too many spoilers, so I will just say what follows is a great scene in which Deadpool goes to different universes looking for a Wolverine to help him and when he finds the Wolverine we see in the trailers they end up in a place called The Void. This is a neat concept. It is a place sort of like The Phantom Zone in Superman where all the discarded Marvel characters are sent. It is basically a Mad Max-like wasteland. Deadpool even referrences Furiosa. After a brief though terrific fight scene between Deadpool and Wolverine they end up being taken to the ruler of this land, a female (or gender neutral person) named Cassandra Nova. When all is said and done this is not an interesting villain, but it is played well by the actress. This whole sequence has some funny and clever bits though. After this encounter, Deadpool and Wolverine end up on a journey through the wasteland, we learn about this new Wolverine's sad backstory. Deadpool is trying to save his own world and Wolverine regrets what happened in his own world. Both Jackman and Reynolds are good with the emotional aspects of their characters and they do have good chemistry together. This is what saves the movie, because all of the rest sounds more interesting than it actually is. What follows is 45 minutes of fan service, more or less. Cameos and other surprises and a few fantastic fight scenes. One is filmed like the hallway scene in Oldboy and it is one of the bloodiest scenes in any movie. The last 20 minutes is the highlight of the movie and for fans of the comics or X-Men: The Animated Series, they are going to be very happy with the finale. I think part of my problem is I am just tired of these comic book movies and all of this is too little too late. Stuff that would have been far more effective if it was in X-Men movies 10 years ago. It is hard to feel all that much for this new Wolverine, because he isn't the Logan we know and love. He is an entirely new Wolverine. The movie is basically just fan service. The story is completely forgettable and I didn't find it all that funny, but it does have a handful of great scenes and if you just want fan service then you will get a few all-time great Marvel movie moments. Spoiler (here are the cameos if you are curious and my comments about them) Chris Evans as Human Torch. I really enjoyed this one, because it is sort of a bait and switch. Evans is fun and his death scene is epic. Gambit played by Channing Tatum. Comic book accurate costume, though I don't care for Tatum in the part. He looks silly and his Cajun accent left much to be desired. Wesley Snipes as Blade. He is fun, though him repeating a line from the first Blade movie was a bit cringey. Jennifer Garner as Elektra, who is just as forgettable as you might imagine. 1. Deadpool 2 - 7/10
2. Deadpool & Wolverine - 6.5/103. Deadpool - 6/10

I'd be surprised if it wasn't fan servicey. How'd Gisnep handle the R rating?

I just watched the second one for the first time a couple of days ago.
It started out really good and then became annoying as hell.
I’d skip this one if it was my call alone, but I have a feeling I’ll be dragged to it by someone at some point.

The first Deadpool and Deadpool & Wolverine are more of a mixed bag for me, where Deadpool gets on my nerves. Actually my biggest issue with the first is the love story. It just doesn't work for me at all and the villain is very boring.

The Deadpool character is just not for me. The second one has better filmmaking, so I enjoyed it more. And ya I read your review in the OP. Not sure I see your point lol?

I’m sure I’m going to enjoy it but it’s kind of funny that main thing keeping the MCU afloat are cameos and fanservice.

I wouldn't say I didn't enjoy it, just that I didn't enjoy it any where near as much as I was hoping I would. Basically there is enough fun stuff where I can say I enjoyed it more than not. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 I fully enjoyed and was very happy with. Deadpool & Wolverine is quite a drop in quality from that movie imo. I think The Marvels was the only one in between those 2, which is one of the worst MCU movies as far as I'm concerned. With the exception of Christian Bale as the villain, Thor: Love & Thunder was below average, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a mess. I did strangely enjoy Black Panther: Wakanda Forever though, even with the incredible disappointing villain.

The second surpasses it just on the strength of having more actual jokes, with the entire X Force scene making me laugh more than basically all of 1 combined. I have no idea what to expect with D&W.

I agree. Deapool 2 has a lot of actual jokes in it and they are often funny. I also like the plot, even though it is basically just a rip-off of Looper. Josh Brolin as Cable was cool too, as was Juggernaut. Being a fan of the '90s animated series that stuff made me very happy. The X-Force scene is funnier and more inventive than anything in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Just watched it. I pretty much hated it.
4/10 for me. And it gets all 4 points for the action.

Enjoyable but the fun of seeing those cameos will obviously be gone next viewings. The 2nd film is still the best one.
