Any fans of this movie? I saw it for the first time just recently. An entertaining thriller even though it goes full slasher at the end. Terry O'Quinn does a good job in the title role going from wholesome family man to a complete psycho. Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: The Stepfather (1987) - 3 out of 4 stars"Engrossing thriller has well-cast Quinn as a meek-looking guy desperately seeking to have the perfect little family. He turns out to be a psycho who marries widows and eventually erupts into violence. Thoughtful screenplay by Donald E. Westlake and taut direction by Ruben highlight this sleeper. Story by Westlake, Carolyn Lefcourt, and Brian Garfield. Followed by two sequels; remade in 2009."

I enjoy it, mostly for Terry O. Shout-out to the most gratuitous shower scene of all time.

I am a fan.
It has one of the greatest villain introductions of all-time imo.

I watched it for the first time in October 2021 so I could better participate in Captain Spencer's quote thread. I wrote at the time, "it was a really good, suspenseful movie!"

Sure. Solid thriller with one of the best actors of all time. What's not to like?

Loved it. Well written, spine-tingling suspense, and a brilliant performance by Terry O'Quinn.

Fine thriller with an outstanding Terry O’Quinn performance.
I enjoy the sequel too.

I really like it, mainly for O'Quinn's performance. Also saw the two sequels and remake but the original is the best by a mile.
