I just went to see this movie. I love that the trailer for the movie barely gives anything away. I was not prepared for how insane this movie is. I am not going to even say anything about it aside from that Demi Moore is awesome in it and that the movie is very entertaining in a trashy way. It is very dark satire. There are many parts that are high camp and many parts that are legit tragic, and Moore's performance plays on both levels. For the record I have never been much of a Demi Moore fan. I like her a lot in Ghost, G.I. Jane and St. Elmo' Fire (she is the best thing about that movie imo), but other than that I can take her or leave her. Because so many different movies popped into my mind while watching it, I will list them to give some idea. Carrie (1976) Sunset Blvd. Society (1989) Mulholland Drive The Neon Demon 2001: A Space Odyssey Black Swan

The third act goes on about 10 minutes too long. Up to that point, I loved it, even with a few "look away" moments.
7/10

Definitely need to check this out, I've heard it is a career comeback kind of performance from Demi Moore.

I liked it, but think I would have liked it more if it was a little more grounded and didn't go so OTT. Picked up on most of the films you mentioned, add The Shining and The Elephant Man to that list, as well as The Picture of Dorian Gray 7/10, although I think it's a more interesting concept, overall I liked it just slightly less than the director's previous film Revenge (2017)

The insanity of the final act is what ultimately won me over completely. Though I do think it goes on for slightly too long. I would have edited a few minutes of the final act.

There is a bathroom in the movie that very much reminded me of the red and white bathroom in The Shining.

Fair enough, it seems to be a large part of what's winning a lot of people over, and I admire the audacity, it just lost me a bit.
