I always cite this as the worst birthday of my life. Middle of the economic crisis, I had a free coupon for a birthday movie but didn't have any proof of my age so they made me pay full price, then the movie was just 89 minutes of people dicking around a house where occasionally a chair moved or a door creaked, followed by 30 seconds of CG nonsense and credits. Fucking bullshit.

I actually did not like the first film and did not find it scary at all. I thought Part 2 was way better and really the only one I enjoyed of the series.
The others are OK at best.

I recall liking it and thinking it was the best of the series but of the long-running horror franchises, this isn't as strong as many of the other originals. It also isn't as scary as it's made out to be outside of the ending maybe.
