Scream 8/10 Scream 2 6/10 Scream 3 5/10 Scream 4 2/10 Scream 3 I've seen only once, when it was new. Thought it was better than it's poor reputation, but still not that good. I'm surprised that part 4 is getting quite good ratings here. I found it really intolerable beginning with the very opening scene. The opening of 4 is pretty dumb, but the movie gets better as it goes along culminating in a clever twist and climax that skewers the tired horror remakes of the time. I'd prefer if the movie leading up to that was less subpar, but 3 is subpar throughout with a twist that actively makes the film worse and even undercuts the original a bit. Parker Posey is the only real saving grace.

I think the first two acts of 6 are pretty decent. They have some really well done set pieces at least. Then the final act couldn't have been more insulting if the directors came into the theater and released a giant wet fart in my face. And yes, the semi retcon in 3 (which isn't even a huge retcon, it's a minute detail the film and killer blows way out of proportion) are really lame, as is digging back into the well of "who really killed Sidney's mom?" again in general. But it's got plenty of other problems for me. Yeah I thought the first two acts of 6 were alright, but the finale definitely brought it down for me. They were alright. The last act was both the best thing about the movie and the worst thing about the movie. At least it was memorable, which is more than I can say for anything else aside from the opening scene. My rating should probably be even lower than it is.

Maybe if I was a bigger fan of the first 2 it would have really bothered me, but I just enjoy it for it's ridiculousness. And Parker Posey is awesome in it.

Like it was so bad that I was in awe.

It is awesomely bad.

It is awesomely bad. Besides the subway scene and the opening, I'd add the bodega and the apartment ladder sequence as pretty effective. Even the Gale attack was pretty good and had me thinking she might bite it for a moment. As a fan of the series, I could find no ironic enjoyment of the finale. It just depressed me.

My problem is that I just didn't care about the characters or story this time around and aside from a few scenes think the direction is pretty bland. The movie lacked energy imo. Part of it is that I think I am just bored of the franchise at this point.

Yeah, the franchise has a pretty rigid formula. 6 teased breaking it, starting with the opening scene along with the conspiracy stuff and the idea that the killer is some twisted vigilante. Alas, the finale tripled down on being the same old thing. And yeah, I don't much care for the new characters or those introduced in 5 - the latter kind of had the misfortune of having the only standout be the killer and killing them off.
