Robert Redford's Quiz Show was released 30 years ago, this month. It tells of the real-life television scandal set in 1958, in which Herb Stempel, a local New York resident, competes on NBC's game show Twenty-One. He becomes a six-week champion until the program's producers rig the game in favor of Charles Van Doren, a more telegenic contestant. News of the game-rigging prompted a U.S. congressional investigation, and the program is cancelled shortly after. When the film was released, it was lauded by film critics as one of the best films of 1994. Redford's direction, as well as Paul Scofield and John Turturro's performances, were touted and were nominated in the awards circuit. It was nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture, winning none. In the years since, it's still regularly listed as one of the best films of 1994, though it's overshadowed by Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption, and Forrest Gump. Thirty years later, how is it stood the test of time?

Great movie. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but this would have been my choice for Best Picture winner that year.

Martin Scorsese has an acting role in it. It's weird because it very much feels like a movie Scorsese would have directed, he did not but he's in it.

Martin Scorsese has an acting role in it. 14 year late apology from Bobby Red?
