I didn't need to forgive them. It was funny to me.
The movie is poking fun at reboots/requels, so the name fits. Remember Halloween (2018)?

It could still have been Scream on the posters etc if they wanted. They could have done something similar to Scream 4's opening titles, but maybe in reverse with the 5 transitioning into an S.
