Actress Meryl Streep tries her hand at action/adventure with this movie. I haven't seen it, but it seems like it has its share of fans over time thanks to the performances and action/adventure. From the director of "L.A. Confidential" and "The Wonder Boys". Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: The River Wild (1994) - 3 out of 4 stars "Exciting, well-wrought adventure yarn about a woman taking her young son and nearly estrange husband on a whitewater raft ride--and falling prey to a pair of bad guys on the lam. Streep's complete credibility, as a wife, mom, and rafting expert, keeps this afloat, along with good performances and vivid action scenes. Panavision."

Just thought it was a average thriller.

Just thought it was a average thriller. Same. Now that I think about it, it has a lot on common with Speak No Evil but I think the latter does it better.
