Any fans of this David O'Russell movie starring George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, and Ice Cube? It seems this movie is more known for the behind-the-scenes fighting between Russell and Clooney. But the movie did get acclaim when it was first released. Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: Three Kings (1999) - 3 out of 4 stars"At the end of the Gulf War, four renegade U.S. soldiers try to pull off a heist of Kuwait gold, but find themselves getting involved with innocent civilians who are being targeted by Saddam Hussein--and being left to fend for themselves by a retreating United States military. A gritty, violent action film with a brain and point of view. Scripted by the director. Super 35."

Who is the idiot who says musically "we three kings are stealing the gold.." I hate that line.
I think I watched it but can't remember anything about it.
Saddam Hussein was a brave guy for a bastard. Mocking his executioners before he was hanged.
Can you imagine Bush--either one--if they were about to be hanged? They would have been blubbering and pleading.
I know someone who knows someone who met him. Said he was very charming.

I loved this film and include it as one of my favorite films of 1999. For a war the United States won and achieved its objectives, the film questions the war effort arguing the U.S. went in for morally dubious reasons. It also showcases the impact war leaves on civilians left behind in the crossfire. David O. Russell directs with some stylized action-packed style, and the trio of George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, and Ice Cube bond well. It also boasts a nice soundtrack, too.
So, yeah, mix in the escapist heist fun of Kelly's Heroes, the cynicism and greed of Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and the satirical war tone of Full Metal Jacket and you get this film.
