I'm not going to make a poll because those get old real quick, but just tell me which one you like more.
It seems that on this board, Superman (1978) is more beloved, but before now I always thought that Superman II was enjoyed a bit more by the masses. Maybe time has changed opinions? Who knows. Also, do you consider either of them timeless classics?

But no one can deny that Superman (1978) is the classic that started the superhero movie genre and without Superman (1978), there wouldn't be big-budget superhero movies or shared superhero cinematic universes today. Even MCU dictator Kevin Feige admitted that MCU uses Superman (1978) as the blueprint for most of their superhero origin movies.

That's why all MCU movies are great. I didn't know that! That's awsome. For once you made my day DC-FAN! Superman FTW! (too bad MOS and BVS discarded that beloved character buuu)

(too bad MOS and BVS discarded that beloved character buuu) they have discarded nothing, it's obviously an arc to add dimensions to the flatness. Supes will end up smiling and self-confident as in the originals. Bats obviously already went through some character development in BvS.

my perspective perhaps isn't as meaningful because i've not viewed the original for a few years, nor the sequel for upwards of twenty now.
but i lean towards Superman ii for two reasons:
1) Terence Stamp's performance as General Zod. while most of the movie is a hazy memory at this point, Zod sticks out as crystal clear. i still routinely quote him and, were i to order a list of Top Movie Villains i'm quite certain he would make the cut.
2) i absolutely hated Superman's time reversal. it's a copout from a storytelling point of view and it wrecks my suspension of disbelief. it's really my only only big sticking point for the '78 film, but it's damned near a dealbreaker for me.

Both cuts of Superman II are better than Superman, IMO.
