I'm curious if the reasoning behind that has ever been given. It's not a small industry in terms of popularity or revenue. It's odd to bury it in a sub-board.
Even if you want to say the site should have a primary focus on movies and TV, well, why does music have several forums for different genres?
It just doesn't add up.

The primary focus of this site is the general boards of IMDb, and the layout of the categories is still largely intact, especially the more active boards. The video games board was not buried, it was simply consolidated with the other games boards under a common heading. It doesn't have to "add up". -John

I think that that the Video Games board should be separated, it should be just one of the Main General Message boards like it was on IMDB.
It was one of the most 3 popular general boards from IMDB.

It's nice to have a reason and it's even better for that reasoning to be consistently applied. I disagree with this change because I don't understand the reasoning behind it. Here's why (I'll keep it short): 1.) Among the Games subcategories, two are dedicated to message board games, one is dedicated to puzzle games like sudoku, one as a catch-all category, and one to a multi-billion dollar media industry with multiple genres, platforms, and levels of technology. No offense to the other categories but one of these things is just not like the other. Let me put it this way: Sports could also be sub-categorized under Games, as they are also games, but I suspect some would balk at that. For starters, you don't play sports on a message board; you discuss sports. Most of those forums are dedicated to playing games on the boards. Sports also entail a specific, yet very broad sort of gaming that is distinct from say, message board trivia. The exact same things could also be said for video gaming. It is a distinct form of media-- just as, say, comic book discussion is distinct from both art and books-- and it deserves its own place among the General discussion forums. The medium has certainly earned it considering its mass appeal. I mean, even Wrestling has a General discussion page. 2.) If the focus of the site was the general boards (I presume you mean to preserve them), then why move it at all? It was part of the general boards for, what, maybe a decade or more? It was also one of the more active forums of the bunch. Why not just keep it there? I mean, I wasn't even a regular there and I had to question why it was relocated. It seemed an odd decision.

Ok, bartlesby, you made your case. I'll move the Video Games board to General, but you have to field any complaints about it not being higher up on the home page or questions about why it isn't included with the other games in the Trivia and Games category. Pleasing everyone is a lofty goal, but unfortunately always far out of reach. Good luck.

It can't be an easy task.
