I tried to watch this bore fest. But the second half was like a horror film for kids. I can't believe it has a 7 rating. 'Insidious' is better.

I agree totally. Saw this at the cinema when it premiered, and thought it was overblown nonsense. Not scary at all, with the most obnoxious family I've ever seen in a movie. I wanted them all to die, especially that midget lady.

I'm glad somebody agreed. when the midget lady appeared, that's when I lost my patience. I turned channel over before the ending. I don't even know how it ended. The last scene I saw was when there was some bright blue light coming from inside a room with high speed wind. The lady wanted somebody to hold her hand. At that point it was pathetic. I couldn't watch no more.

I disagree. I saw it on HBO when I was a kid and to this day the clown doll attack freaks me out because I get creeped out by clowns anyway.

Those who grew up with ET, Star Wars & Poltergeist - I think it's all about that nostalgic feeling that we still like this film, but I would understand a young child in today's generation,he may not get what the hype was all about...

What got me is that after the kid is sucked into another dimension, the mom and dad allow her to stay in the same room with that "entryway" to hell.

I grew up during that time too. I was also a fan of E.T and Star wars as well. But poltergeist is just blah. I could re watch e.t and jaws.

You must've been 5 or 6 at the time if you thought that clown doll was scary. Everything but the kitchen sink was thrown into Poltergeist, and it just didn't work. Coffins popping out of the ground, a portal to another dimension, kitchen chairs that rearranged themselves, and then the house gets sucked into another dimension. What we needed next was a big cartoon foot to come down and squash everyone, like in Monty Python. Would've been the perfect ending. |
