@weirdraptor Rowling is rather like a quilt maker. You can recognize where the fabric came from on occasion but how she re-assembled the pieces is what really matters. .... .... Hey, I just thought of that. Not too bad ! <Bat strains shoulder reaching to pat own back !>

@weirdraptor
Somehow I keep wandering into places that are not my usual stomping grounds.
Am not really a fantasy fan but liked the Potter Books and thought that the movies did justice to them. Don't have to have read the books in order to follow the story.
I find that to be a problem with TLotR, having read the books a long time ago and didn't memorize them at the time, I find myself somewhat lost as to who is who and what is what. The films rather assume that you know and don't really introduce the characters.
Tangent much ? Moi ?

I never felt that about the LotR film, but I definitely felt that way about the Potter films starting with film three. Yeah, a bit of a tangent.

Both have a history of copying each other along with Image Comics, IDW, Dynamite Entertainment, Avatar Press etc. It was no coincidence that a few months after 'Witchblade' had success with its 'War of the Witchblades' storyline Ms Marvel just happened to have a 'War of the Marvels' storyline too.

Nah, the Fantastic Four would've existed without the JLA. JLA is too generic to have really inspired anything, especially compared to the effort Marvel put into the FF. If anything, DC was inspired to make changes to their characters to reflect the deeper effort Marvel put into theirs. That story about how the JLA "inspired" Marvel is hyperbole, Marvel's creations would exist without any input from DC. Nope, the Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Avengers (and thus by extension the MCU) would never have existed without the Justice League. Stan Lee himself has admitted to that. So you basically have no argument since Stan Lee himself has already admitted to that.
The concept of a team predates DC by quite a while Not superhero teams. The Justice Society of America was the very first superhero team in the comics. And DC created the Justice Society of America. Therefore, DC created the concept of superhero teams in the comics. It's hyperbole, nothing more. Just coincidence. Marvel would've existed without DC. Just like they'd still have characters without Superman too, because he was just an archetype. Same with Batman. DC's ideas and teams were pretty basic and one-note, which is the opposite of how Marvel did things. So while the names might have ended up different, Marvel still would've created their characters without DC's presence.

In the midst of all this—er—rivalry (and I thought politics was bad!), does anyone here remember "Amalgam Comics"?
(Yes, I think I've posted this before, but for heaven's sake I can't remember where.)

Vision didn't come after Martian Manhunter, he was published 15 years before in 1940 in by Timeley Comics which became Marvel. The Vision character in Timely Comics in 1940 had the same name as the Vision character in the Avengers but was really a different character. It's similar to the Human Torch. The Human Torch (android) character in Timely Comics that first appeared in 1939 had the same name as the Human Torch (Johnny Storm) character in the Fantastic Four in 1961 but was really a different character. And, ironically (well, I hope it's ironic) the modern day Vision is actually the original Human Torch's android body, re-purposed by Ultron.
