It is curious that you mention him because he came to mind when I was thinking about this. Although I would like Bubba to have a Open along with his green jacket I don't think he's up to the task. I watched him last week and he was leading coming down the stretch , then he completely choked. He couldn't hit a fairway to save his life.
Since it seems driving accuracy will be important he will have to step up his game.
Did you here that one pro said the rough is so bad that if you don't have a great lie you won't be able to advance the ball 3 yards?

Westwood is always a great bet - as long as you are willing to lay.. his top 10 percentage, and also getting up in contention at a 3rd or 4th round point is on par with no one bar major winners.(and not many major winners either) Now that Sergio has his in the bag .
I would rank
1. westwood 2. Monty 3. Stricker
as the best never to win a major.
go top 10 as well - or e/w at least.
His long game is still so magic - one day them putts will fall,(well if there is a golfing god anyway ) i bet on him every major - i am up on him quite significantly. but i do cash out a portion (lay on exchange markets)
Mickelson was the player i backed every major before his first masters victory. i got him on my 12th on the spin at 12/1 ....
Those days it was betting shop stuff - so no laying of part of your winnings . The irony is that Michlesons best ever round (imo ) was his victory round v Westy in the masters were they played final group. Westy played well., and would have beat the vast majoirty on that day but Pmick was on fire. he is a very special golfer, as is westy - but also very different ones. Westy is beginning to get that jimmy white vibe.. I mean heck even Clarke got one in (we could say that an open win in its own right is not worthy of a great player , due to the weather playing a huge part in many tourneys. It can knock half the field out. Still a huge honour of course - and links is my fav type of golf. Its just a shame that it happens so often that day 1 and day 2 switch bad weather timings to literally give that side of the draw zero chance.
bubbas odds are huge - Augusta is a place once won can be easier to win again. his game might however be too mental and when you play the vision shape every hole you have to be 100% - i havent seen much golf so I dont know if he plays more percentage these days. Augusta as we should all know going in is about missing in the correct place,
the worlds greatest of all time(JN) over a period stretching past 10 years( tiger takes that) played a very simple game - it was aggressive but it had an air of control - he aimed middle of the green on every shot and hit it straight, the draw or the fade towards the pin. which whilst going for the hole every shot this method has an air of safety, but not so much about missing it correctly. hesitated quite wisely that whilst he lost 18 majors (came second) due to his aggression he also won 18 also due to his aggression.
he never really took his foot of the gas and just played the really safe play even coming down the stretch in control.
back on this one - havent seen enough golf - so will check out form. but westy is always a banker bet.
